During the hot summer days at the end of July, our team returned to monitor the Belá braidplain territory to check the actual geomorphological changes after river training in 2018.
We also checked to advance backwater channel erosion and gradual channel incision on some river reaches. The magnificent cut-bluff failure near the Vavrišovo settlement remains active due to ongoing river cutting, sharp slope and uncohesive material.
Overall, more than 40 cross-sections were re-measured from upstream to downstream. Several river benches and the abandoned channels were reconnaissance on the youngest floodplain. These floodplain landforms are connected with the main channel overflows during flood events and are characterised by the accumulation of fine sediment.
