Under the auspices of the Slovak Cartographical Association, Faculty of Forestry of the Technical University in Zvolen and Institute of Geography SAS traditional cartographic conference were held during 6–7 September, 2018 in Zvolen. The conference focused on current issues and trends in cartography, geoinformatics, geodesy and geography. Among the thematic areas as mapping and data collection, geovizualisation, publishing of maps on the internet, creation of maps and atlases and image processing, Dr Miloš Rusnák presented the contribution within the remote Earth survey theme about the application of aerial photos, GIS and UAV technology in fluvial geomorphology research. Within the conference we could not resist to visit the famous Slovak Map Museum in Banská Bystrica.
